Formation

1. Function Distribution

According to how the whole system works, we divide the farm into four separate parts. They are reproduction containers, preliminary stage containers, second stage containers and the natural part- oyster reef.

2. General Formation- Island on the sea

Due to the existing way of breeding oyster which has beautiful and nature like formation, our goal is to simulate natural features and find the balance between artificial form and natural shape. Therefore, our concept is to build islands on the ocean. From the bird’s eye view, the whole farm is like island in different size floating on the sea. And under the sea level, the main parts work as automatic machine and cannot be seen.

3. Cell Formation- Caves under the sea

Caves are the earliest houses for human and now, they are still most common places for animals. Hence, we assume that all the containers are put in caves and oysters reproduce and grow in these caves.

Chapter 5

Chapter 6 

The chapter 6 describes the features of the post-work society with demands from the author:

1 Full Automation

It aim to liberate humanity from the drudgery of work and increase amounts of wealth.

2 Reuduce the length of the working week with no cut in pay.

       benefits: achieve freedom, a good response to automation, good for the environment and health

       prefer a three-day weekend instead of shorter working time: cut down commuting and build long holiday

3 UBI - universal basic income

       benefits: reduce poverty, better public health

       not just econoic demand, but also demand for political transformation 

       real significance: overturn the asymmetry of power that currently exists between labor and capital
